Successful Journeys

Successful Journeys
Ninth-grade students will have an opportunity to meet several times during the school year to explore diversity and multiculturalism, and to focus on the importance of respecting other cultures and perspectives. A variety of carefully crafted field trips will challenge students to collaborate with student-peers from other participating towns. Success will require effective communication and leadership skills, trust and respect. Students develop positive friendships and team-building skills.
Benefits: Ninth-graders acquire valuable social, study and planning skills as they work with integrated teams from different school districts to navigate the often-difficult transition from middle school to high school. Students improve their life-management skills and become more independent through improved time-management, team-building and goal-setting activities. Students also increase their awareness and appreciation of diversity, while improving their academic performance.
